What is the best time to book photos?
I can shoot at any time of the day. However I do find 10/11am best for Newborn sessions. For family sessions I always recommend the hour before sunset.
We're not very photogenic and feel awkward in front of the camera – is that a problem?
Not at all. Most of the families I photograph say the same thing before their session. It’s completely normal to feel a little nervous! My job is to guide you gently the whole way through, helping you feel relaxed, natural, and at ease. I focus on capturing real, in-between moments, not stiff, posed smiles. You don’t need to worry about what to do, I’ll take care of that. And I promise, you’ll be surprised at how beautifully your love and connection shines through.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of our session?
I always keep a close eye on the weather, especially when we’ve planned an outdoor session. If it’s looking rainy or too windy, I’ll get in touch around 2 hours before your session to chat. If the conditions aren’t great, we’ll simply reschedule to the next suitable date that works for us both. Your comfort and beautiful light matter, so no stress, I’ve got you covered.
Will we get any traditional posed photos, or is it all candid?
I always aim for a beautiful mix! While my style is relaxed and focused on genuine connection, I gently guide the session so we capture both the candid, playful moments and a few classic photos with everyone looking at the camera.I let the kids lead the way and work with their energy, weaving in those “everyone smiling” shots naturally, without the pressure. This way, you get a gallery full of real moments and the timeless portraits grandparents love.
How do we view our photos after the session?
You'll receive a little sneak peek within 1–2 days of your session, just a few favourites to get excited about! Your full gallery will be ready within 15 days (or 30 days for weddings) and delivered via a private online gallery sent straight to your email. From there, you can view, download, and share all your images in one go, no need to choose or purchase extras. What you see is yours to keep, with no hidden fees or upselling, just beautiful memories, all included.
Can we bring our dog to the session?
Absolutely, I love including furry family members! As long as the location allows dogs, they’re more than welcome to join us. Just let me know in advance so we can choose a dog-friendly spot and plan the session to include them comfortably..
What happens if someone is sick on the day of our session?
Life happens, especially with little ones! If you or someone in your family is unwell, just let me know as soon as you can. We’ll reschedule to the next suitable date, no stress. I want everyone to feel their best and enjoy the session, so I’m always happy to be flexible when it comes to health.
What do we need to bring to our session?
For family sessions, the most important thing is to bring your lovely selves! I recommend:Emptying your pockets so nothing shows in the photosMaking sure little ones are fed beforehandBringing some water (great for sandy faces or thirsty kids)A towel and spare clothes for after the session if the kids are likely to get wet or sandyA small snack for after the session as a little rewardFor newborn sessions, you don’t need to bring anything unless there's something special or sentimental you'd like included in the photos. If siblings are coming along, a quiet snack and something to k
What should we wear for our session?
Honestly, whatever makes you feel good and feels like you. I love when families wear outfits that reflect who they are, whether it’s your little one’s favourite shirt, a flowy dress, or even swimmers if it’s a warm beach day. These photos are about capturing your story as it is right now. That said, if you’d love a little guidance, I send a preparation guide once booked in, with tips on colours, textures, and trending outfit ideas in case you’d like to coordinate a little more.
How old should my baby be for their newborn photos?
The ideal time for newborn photos (especially in studio) is between 5 to 14 days old, when babies are still super sleepy and snuggly, but also best for safety of poses and prop use. I find day 7-9 days my favourite! That said, I’ve photographed newborns up to 8 weeks old ( adjusting the session to accomodate a more awake baby if necessary) and still captured beautiful moments. Every baby is different, and I work gently around their needs, no matter their age. If you’ve missed that early window, don’t stress, we cannot go back in time but we can still document this special season.
How many years have you been in the photography business?
I’ve been in the photography industry since 2009, after doing a Bachelor of Fine Arts. My first job was at a photography studio, where I quickly worked my way up to Studio Manager by 2010, that same year I began shooting weddings on weekends and by 2012, I had enough demand to launch my own wedding photography business full time. From 2012 to 2016, I photographed hundreds of weddings, winning ABIA Wedding Photographer of the Year 2013, 2014, and 2015 and building lasting relationships with many of my couples. When those same brides started having babies, I naturally found myself photographing their growing families too. To ensure I was providing the highest level of care, I completed several well-known newborn safety and posing courses to give families both beautiful and safe experiences.Since having my own kiddos in 2016 and 2019, I have worked around their schedules in many aspect of photography including brand and corporate, real estate, clothing labels and even photographing all the incoming used car's for Toyota for 4 years. Now, with over 16 years of experience, I specialise in family, newborn, and intimate weddings – creating heartfelt, relaxed sessions that celebrate connection at every stage of life.
What happens if my baby arrives early or late?
Babies rarely arrive right on schedule , and that’s completely fine! When you book, I always leave room to be flexible. Once your little one arrives, just let me know, and we’ll lock in a session date that suits you and your baby’s needs. No stress, no rush, I’m here to work around you.
Do you offer in-home or studio newborn sessions?
I offer both! You can choose a relaxed in-home lifestyle session, where we capture your family in your own space, or a studio-style session (in Bli Bli or I can bring the setup to you) with gentle posing and soft wraps. It all depends on the look and feel you’re after, I’m happy to guide you through what might suit your family best.
Can siblings and parents be included in the newborn session?
Absolutely, I encourage it! There is no extra fee. These moments are just as much about your growing family as they are about your new baby. I gently guide sibling and family photos so they feel relaxed and natural, and I’m always mindful of little attention spans (and snack needs!).
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes, I do! I’m based on the Sunshine Coast but I’m more than happy to travel for weddings that feel like the right fit. Whether it's a quiet country property, a coastal escape, or a destination celebration, I love capturing love stories in beautiful places. Just reach out with your date and location, and I can let you know about travel fees and availability.
When should I do my maternity session?
The best time for your maternity session is usually between 32 to 35 weeks. By then, your bump is beautifully round, but you’re hopefully still feeling comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the experience. That said, every pregnancy is different, so if you’re showing earlier or feeling great later on, we can plan around what works best for you. I do find that bookings after 37 weeks usually turn into fresh 48 sessions.
